Webinaire DIVA : Robotics for Smart Agriculture and Forestry
has an Agriculture and Forestry R&D line with a 10-year road-map, considering the Protuguese reality (needs and desires) and aligned to the European Robotics agenda. This R&D line is focused in three main context application: Pemanent Crops (Steep Slope Vineyards), Forest biomass harvesting, Greenhouses (urban and traditional). It develops cost-effective visual-based sensors, manipulators and smart small machinery with advanced localisation, mapping, control and perception algorythms (where technology tranfer may occur) in order to increase the agricutural task precision in these three main agriculture and forestry contexts.
This webinar will be presented by Filipe Neves dos Santos, senior robotic researcher at Robotics in Industry and Intelligent Systems in INESC TEC and main responsible for Laboratory of Robotics for Agriculture and Forestry. He obtained a Master's degree in Automation and Robotics in 2007 and a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2014. He is also the co-founder of OMNITA (Autonomous systems for monitoring), a start-up company created in 2007. He has a large experience on navigation systems for unnamed aerial and ground vehicules. Actually his priority research fields are : robotics for agriculture; human-robot interaction and Semantic SLAM.
